Twenty eight secondary school students from Croatia, Germany, Poland and Romania will meet tonight at the introductory round starting the Sound in the Silence project in the House of the Wannsee Conference by Berlin. Over the course of the next eight days, the participants will work and learn together using the history-through-art method. The programme is organised by the ENRS.
Sound in the Silence is an interdisciplinary educational project for young people that focuses on the tragic and painful history of 20th-century Europe. The First location of this year’s programme is the House of the Wannsee Conference. The history of the villa will become a starting point to express participants’ personal reflections and emotions through art. From 3 to 10 October, students will participate in workshops with professional educators and artists from the field of creative writing, choreography and musicality, during which they will prepare a final performance.
The artistic director of the programme and the leader of the writing workshop is Dan Wolf, a hip-hop artist who creates musical and theatre projects in the US and Europe. The movement and choreography workshops will be led by choreographer and dancer Katarina Rampackova (Slovakia), and the vocal classes will be led by Sean Palmer, a performer, musician and composer from the UK. Tetiana Kriukovska (Ukraine), a facilitator and intercultural trainer specializing in war and armed conflict, will oversee group integration and cooperation.
The final performance and discussion summarizing the results of the project will take place on October 9, at 6:00 pm, at the House of the Wannsee Conference, Am Großen Wannsee 56-58 (14109 Berlin).
